It was really good, you should buy it! At fisrt I was kinda annoyed that Kate made them witches, but the story is great and it has three chapters from the next book! It is worth it!!

The Book of Spells was just a prequel, there are going to be two more Private books (Ominous coming out February 22, and Vengeance in September) that are back to the main story of Reed. And, I think that there is one or two more of the Privilege novels, but I’m not sure.

SPOILER ALERT**** i really enjoyed the book of spells and i thought it was cool how far back Natasha Crenshaw, Gage, Trey Prescott, and Walt Whittaker’s family histories go. The end was soo sad but i guess that proves that u cant play with magic and disturb the natural balance of life. I think it would be cool for Kate to create something similar to a family tree since the billings girls as well as the rest of easton academy come from very important familes. As far as ominous goes, I think Paige and Demetria brought Billings back and that Missy will be president. Yikes! lol

It explains the entire book pretty much and it gives you more of a knowing sense when reading Ominous, it’s kinda creepy honestly, because some pretty bad things happened in the book and it adds drama and suspense to what might happen with Reed and them. It even helps you understand the whole Litererary Society thing

So, I don’t know what Ashley is talking about when she says that Reed and Josh aren’t completely broken up. They aren’t broken up at all. They got back together at the end of Vanished. And in the preview chapters of Ominous in the back of The Book of Spells, they are still together. They hugged and kissed and everything.
But, yeah. I agree with Audry. I am sick of Reed trying to bring back Billings with the BLS. And, you can tell from the preview chapters of Ominous that she is going to try and bring back Billings with the use of magic. I kind of feel like bringing magic into the whole plot makes it seem unrealistic. :\ But, no matter, Private is still the best series ever
I totally agree. i think the fantasy twist will be waaaay too much. I think Kate should stick to what she is best at, which is murders and dramas. not fantasies.
but the thing about the whole black magic thing is it seems fantasy, but no one is honestly certain, I think that’s kind of the point of this witches thing, Noelle is now going on that it’s a bunch of crap and once you read the book of spells, it seems more realistic, I don’t know how she does it, but yeah

But SPOLIER**** The ending is so sad but still realistic bc everyone cant have a happily ever after…(I also like supernatural books but it was not to over he top with the magic) And it had the first three chapters of the next Private book which was great … I just hope that Kate doesnt end the series by just using magic to save the day .. Also i would LOVE LOVE to see all the old characters come back like Taylor and Kiran somehow … Even thought in Privilage ****** Ariana kills her but I dont know if that means she died in Private also…. anyways Overall, great book go get it!

SPOILER ALERT!!! I wish the book said what happened between Harrison and Eliza! I also can’t believe Catherine dies! It was a real suprise. And I wonder how much the other Billings Girls will remember about Catherine’s death once they wake up from the spell Eliza, Theresa, and Helen performed on them.

SOO ANNOYING how the book didn’t say what happened between Eliza and Harrison! that wouldve been amazing if they had a sequel to the book of spells saying what actually did end up happening between them but besides for Eliza and Harrison’s relationship, they kind of summed up everything that happened with the early billings girls and their wasn’t much more to tell!

Loved this book! I bought it today and I just finished it! I wish it said what happened between Harrison, Eliza, and Theresa though. It has to be the BLS book though, because I remember reading when Eliza was writing it, that she was flipping through the first pages of the book she was writing the story of what happened in, and it had all their signatures and everything at the beginning, and that is also mentioned about the BLS book that Reed found.

In the final book of the privilege series, I don’t want Reed or Noelle to die all because of Arianna pretending to be someone who really was murdered. I want Arianna to get what she deserves because she really actually makes legacies quite tainted with murdering people. She’s a psychopath and must not ever be able to escape again.

Indeed, Ariana’s crazy, but Kate’s written her so well that it seems several people wish things could somehow be different and that she could go off and live happily (which I’ve read could happen)…if she hadn’t hurt anyone to do it. She does seem to have that inner voice of morality. I think the problem is that she doesn’t listen to it often enough.
The first ‘Privilege’ novel reminded me of ‘Fingersmith.’
Anyway, ‘The Book of Spells’ sounds interesting, but as I’ve said before, my favourite part of the ‘Private’ universe is the friendship between Reed and Ivy. I mainly buy the books that focus on that now. I remember skimming through ‘Scandal’ and ‘Vanished’ in the book store and being quite excited when I realised that Reed and Ivy were hanging out in those. I’m probably going to miss days like that when the series ends. Speaking of ‘Vanished,’ I should finish reading it.

Catherine (the possessed one) said it after she attacked Eliza in her room. Helen, Theresa, and Eliza were chanting a spell to make her go back to the dead and she said “Curse you and your families!”. It’s near the end of the book.

This book was awesome!!! i was actually really mad that they would be witches because, u know, how cliche. but once i started reading it, i was hooked. it was great!!! i fell in love with the characters and by the end i was so upset when i remembered it was a prequel and not its own series!
